How to Use Scripts

Create and manage message templates with personalization, organize by category, and use scripts to respond to fans faster in ChatBlue.

Scripts are pre-written message templates that help chatters respond to fans quickly and consistently. Instead of typing the same messages repeatedly, chatters can select a script and send it in seconds with personalization built in.

Go to Scripts in the left navigation menu to view, create, and manage all your scripts.

If you manage multiple accounts, use the account selector at the top to switch between them. Each account has its own set of scripts.

Creating a Script

1. Click "Create Script"

2. Fill in the following fields:

  • Script Name - A short title to identify the script (e.g., "Welcome Message", "Tip Thank You")

  • Script Text - The message content. You can use template variables to personalize messages automatically (see below).

  • Category (optional) - Assign the script to a category for organization. You can select an existing category or click "+ New Category" to create one inline.

3. Click Save to create the script.

Template Variables (Personalization)

Scripts support dynamic placeholders that automatically insert the fan's name when sent. Use curly braces with a fallback chain:

Format: {customName|name|fallback text}

  • {customName} - The fan's custom display name

  • {name} - The fan's regular name

  • Fallback text - Used if both names are unavailable

Organizing with Categories

Categories help chatters find the right script quickly. You can create a new category directly when creating or editing a script — just type a new category name in the category field.

Managing Categories

Click "Manage" in the category filter bar to:

  • Rename categories

  • Reorder categories by dragging them into your preferred order

Filtering by Category

Use the category pills at the top of the scripts list to filter. Click "All" to see everything, or click a specific category. The pill shows the script count for each category.

Using Scripts in Conversations

When chatting with a fan in Messages:

1. Click the Scripts button in the message footer

2. A floating script menu appears with all your scripts

3. Browse by category using the tabs at the top

4. Search for a script by name using the search bar at the bottom

5. Navigate with arrow keys (up/down) and press Tab or Enter to select

6. The script text is inserted into the message field with template variables automatically replaced with the fan's name

7. Edit the message if needed, then send

The script menu is draggable and resizable — position it wherever works best for your workflow.

Bulk Actions

Select multiple scripts using the checkboxes to:

  • Delete selected scripts

  • Move selected scripts to a different category

Importing Scripts

If you have scripts in a spreadsheet, you can import them via CSV:

1. Click "Upload Scripts"

2. Upload a CSV file with the following columns:

name (required) - Script title

text (required) - Script content

category (optional) - Category name

tags (optional) - Semicolon-separated tags

3. Download the sample CSV for reference on formatting

Reordering Scripts

When viewing scripts within a specific category, you can drag and drop scripts to set your preferred display order. This order carries over to the script menu in conversations.
